Assurant® Vehicle Protection Plan CARCHEX

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan?
Your car insurance protects you in the event of an accident, however what happens when you have a mechanical breakdown? An Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan picks up where your factory auto warranty leaves off, provides financial protection against breakdowns and failures and helps you avoid costly repair bills. Quotes are based on the vehicle type, vehicle mileage and time frame terms of an agreement. Many competitively priced options are available to consumers with deductibles starting at $50, and several different coverage types offered to fit a customer's budget and lifestyle.

How is a Vehicle Protection Plan financially backed?
An Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan is backed by Assurant Solutions, an insurance company with money set aside to cover any claims you may incur. Some companies selling extended warranty contracts are backed by risk retention groups which are not regulated in the same way that insurance companies are.

Can a Vehicle Protection Plan save me money?
The average cost of an Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan is below the cost of two repairs* and in some cases below the cost of just one repair*. Odds are, your vehicle will need repairs over the life of ownership and the savings will be noticeable, and many prefer an affordable monthly payment over an unexpected and untimely $3,000 transmission repair.

Is there a deductible?
Assurant Vehicle Protection Plans come with your choice of a $50, $100, or $200 deductible. The deductible is the amount paid to the repair facility by you for each authorized claim.
